Literature Text

I pressed my left hand against the cold glass of the huge window in front of me.
Cold spread from my palm into my fingers and my arm.

I was on my own now. Completely alone. No one was there anymore, they had all left this world.
A single tear ran down my cheek while I starred outside.

An unlimited darkness greeted me there. But millions of little white dots pierced this darkness and there was something else. A tiny blue spot.

That was my home before I had to move to this metal monster I live in now. I really miss my old home, although I know that it does not look the same anymore.
Everything was destroyed during the third world war.

Lakes dried up, landscapes burnt down and the cities turned into ashes.
I still do not understand why they had done this.
Every country was fighting and the people couldn't escape from this terror. There was no safe spot on the whole planet.

The governments used nuclear and biological weapons to wipe out their enemies but they also killed the innocent. Diseases spread in seconds.

My uncle turned into a monster from one of these diseases. He tried to kill me and my sister but our father saved us. He gave his life to protect ours.

After that we were moved to a secret project of the government. They called it “the only hope”.

On our way to the destination the convoy, that transported the people, fell into an ambush.
The soldiers, who were sent to protect us, did their best but at least half of the people on the convoy died. Our mother died there too.

The small rest of the convoy moved on until we reached a space port. We went aboard a spaceship with the name “the only hope”.
After we had left the earth, my sister asked me if we were safe now. I was sure that no one could harm us out here but I was terribly wrong.

Someone was infected with one of the viruses. The disease spread among the passengers although the doctors tried to stop it. Now everyone -except of me- is dead on this ship.

My sister died a few days ago in my arms. I'm alone now but that will not last long.

I can feel the disease inside of me. It will kill me soon. Anyway I'm not sad about that because I will be reunited with my family.
My grandma told me long ago that the souls of dead people turn into stars. I didn't actually believe that but I really like the idea because it means that my family is watching me at the moment.

Wait for me, I will join you soon and then we can be together forever.
So this is my (literature) part for the contest Awareness of the Arts: Into The Stars.
MonsterKirsche is working on her part atm. :)

I hope you like it. :D

This reads like a very depressing last entry in a journal :(. It also reminds me of something I said earlier about how Hope is both a virtue and a vice. Hope follows her through the entire reading but consistently seems to fail. In the end, her last hope is to be reunited with her family, and while that will succeed it comes at a heavy price. Anyway! Thank you so very much for joining the contest and sharing your work with us all :). I'm enjoying reading them all ^_^.
